About

Established in 2017, ‘the northern writes’ is the creative outlet of Hannah, a 30 something book lover with a rather big addiction to strong brews, pretty stationery, good grub & Disney.

As a self-confessed book geek, I like nothing better than to curl up with my puddies and a brew to devour the latest releases. I’m a big fangirl when it comes to YA fiction and this is by far my favourite genre at the moment alongside romantic historical fiction, which has long been a guilty pleasure of mine.

Over the years I’ve gained many helpful travel tips and trip ideas from other travellers and have for years, shared my experiences on trip advisor and dedicated travel forums. I’m a born planner. I’m the last person you’ll find arriving at a destination without a plan, I always have one, and it’s usually laminated. You may not be as obsessed as me and quite frankly that’s probably a VERY good thing, but hopefully, I can share some of the highlights and avoidable missteps to make your trip that little bit more enjoyable.

Two things you won’t find here are fashion advice (I have the dress sense of a 90-year-old, and not in a cool fifties/retro kinda way) or any fancy cooking/baking (If I bake it, I burn it). Although I have been known to comment on other people’s professional cooking from time to time.

Based in Lancashire, ‘the northern writes’ also features local businesses in the food & leisure industries.
